Crawdads 8U Kid Pitch

8U Kid Pitch Mini Season Results:
Game 1: Crawdads 13 - JV Express 3
Game 2: Crawdads 9 - TX Venom 4
Game 3: Drillers 3 - Crawdads 2
Game 4: Angels 3 - Crawdads 2
Game 5: Crawdads 13 - Crusaders 0

June 10, 2008
After a long night of shoe tying and about 50 missed throws from the opposing team's catchers to pitchers, the Crawdads prevailed 10-0 against the Cypress Crusaders II. The Crawdads strong pitching continued with a combined shutout. Excellent job boys! Good luck with 9U kid pitch next season. Now back to coach pitch to see if we can bring home some more trophies.

June 04, 2008
Another tough game for the Crawdads tonight as they fall 3-2 to the Angels. Once again, pitching and defense was right on. Brendan, RJ, Jacob and Colton all did a great job from the mound. The game was tied 1-1 going into the 6th. The Angels scored 2 in the top of the the inning to take a 3-2 lead. Then in the bottom of the inning, the Crawdads pulled within a run as Dylan led off with a double and Brendan reached on a nice shot up the middle knocking Dylan to3rd and Brendan snuck into 2nd. Then Kelly put the ball into play and picked up a sacrifice RBI when Dylan scored. Brendan was held to second base when Chris shot was hauled in by the 1st baseman. Then Brendan advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch and the tying run was in scoring position. Jake batted the ball back to the pitcher and the Angels closed out the win.

The defense was very good with Colton and Chris hauling in some nice pop ups in the outfield to help keep the game close. The boys looked good at the plate but the Angels pitching was strong enough to keep us off of the base path tonight.

May 28, 2008
The Crawdads pitching was spectacular tonight with Jacob and Kelly holding the Drillers to a shutout through 4 innings. The Crawdads led 2-0 going into the 5th in a battle between the pitchers. Then in the bottom of the 5th, the Drillers put some hits together and scored 3 runs to take a 3-2 lead. Dylan pitched well in the 5th and was able to close out the inning. However, the game was called due to heavy rain before the Crawdads had a chance to bat in the 6th.

May 27, 2008
The Crawdads continued to play well tonight defeating the Texas Venom by a score of 11-4 in the 2nd game of the kid pitch season. The pitching rotation this game was Brendan, Chris, Colton and Scotty. They all did a terrific job on the mound. Chris almost put one out of the park and ended up with a ground rule double (video below).

May 22, 2008
The Crawdads were victorious in the 1st game of the kid pitch season Thursday, May 22nd 13- 3 against the JV Express. The boys did an awesome job pitching, fielding and hitting. Jacob, Kelly, Dylan, RJ & Richard all pitched in the opening game.

The JV Express rallied late to overtake the Crawdads by a final score of 11-9. The game appreared to be in hand as the Crawdads were on top 9-2 going into the 4th. But once again too many errors led to a bunch of unearned runs by the Express. Good luck to all the teams remaining in the playoffs.

President's Day Tourney Recap

The Crawdads ran into some tough competition in the CFSA President’s Day Tournament over the weekend. Amazingly, the weather cleared out and Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day. The Crawdads finished 1-3 and took 8th place. The boys showed some pop at the plate at times over the weekend with some big hits including Grant's 2 run blast against the Banditos.

Saturday’s Results
The first draw on Saturday was against the powerhouse and eventual tourney winner, The Banditos Black. The Banditos defeated the Crawdads 18-5 in pool play. Then in the second game of pool play, the Barracudas bested the Crawdads in the second game 12-4.

Sunday’s Results
Sunday elimination games began for the 10th seeded Crawdads vs the 7th seeded Humble Bulldogs. The sun came out and so did the Crawdads’ bats and defense as the boys held the Bulldogs scoreless 13-0.

The Crawdads then moved on to face the 2nd seeded Houston Wranglers. The first two innings were close. Then, the Wranglers pulled out in front with a big 3rd inning. The Crawdads had a potential big inning end with bases loaded and a hard shot down the left field line by Chris being hauled in by the left fielder. The Wranglers proved to be too tough today and came out on top 11-3.

The tourney was hopefully a good primer for the CFSA regular season which kicks off Wednesday, Feb 20th at 6pm vs The Houston Angels.

'08 Season Kickoff

The Crawdads added 3 new players to the roster for the Spring 2008 season; Dylan Felt, Jake Henley and Chris Alfaro. These boys and their families have already shown to be great additions to the Crawdads Organization. We are very happy to have you all on the team!

The Crawdads held a kickoff meeting/ lunch at Husky’s on January 5th. It was a great start to the season and a chance for everyone to get on the same page. The coaches outlined plans and expectations for the upcoming season.

The boys and the coaches have been working hard to prepare as the ’08 season opener is less than a month away. The Crawdads are classified as an 8U Major Team and will be playing league in the Cy-Fair 8U Open Division. League play is scheduled to open the week of February 18th.

Also, our first tournament of the year will be held over the President’s Day weekend at Cy-Fair. The CFSA President’s Day Tourney is very well attended and looks like we will see some very strong competition. Click here for teams entered in our division for this tourney.
